Let’s be real—choosing what to wear for senior pictures can feel like a full-blown crisis.
Do I dress up? Keep it casual? What if I hate it later? What if it looks basic?
I’ve been there. I get it.
So here’s the deal: your senior photos should look like YOU. Not some Pinterest version of you. Not the overly “posed and perfect” version. The real you—just elevated.
Here’s how we make that happen.
I’m obsessed with seniors who bring bold street style to their session. Oversized jackets, cool sneakers, ripped jeans, layered jewelry—YES, PLEASE.
Think about textures (denim, leather, chunky knits), and layer pieces so you can switch up your look without a full outfit change. Bonus: streetwear looks incredible in urban locations with graffiti walls, parking garages, or downtown backdrops.
Pro tip: Stay away from big, distracting logos. Subtle is cool. Giant neon brand names? Not so much.
Want to feel like you just stepped out of a magazine? This is where statement looks come in—think bold colors, flowy dresses that catch the wind, or even an all-black chic outfit with killer accessories.
These are the outfits that pop against moody lighting and really make you look like the main character. They’re perfect for rooftop shoots, sunset lighting, or more dramatic editorial vibes.
Pro tip: If you’re doing a dress or flowy piece, make sure it’s something you can move in—motion makes for some of the best shots.
Okay, here’s the truth: the basics can still be fire when styled right. Solid neutral tops, dark jeans, and layered textures always photograph beautifully. The key? Fit. Nothing too baggy or too tight—you want to look effortless.
How Many Outfits Should You Bring?
For my sessions, you can bring up to five outfits. I usually recommend:
You don’t need a whole new wardrobe. I’ll help you style what you already love and make it look amazing on camera.
Some of my favorite Lansing spots for senior session outfits:
Supporting local also means you’re less likely to show up in the same outfit everyone else has.
Let’s keep it real:
At the end of the day, the best outfit is the one that makes you feel confident. If you feel good, you’ll look good.
And don’t worry—you’re not on your own. Once you’re booked, I’ll send my full prep guide with outfit tips, color palettes, and even local vendor recommendations to make sure you show up ready to own it.
